OFFICIATING
BMX OFFICIATING PROGRAM
BMX Australia's Officiating Program aims to educate, assist and develop officials at all levels, so that they can support the sport of BMX in areas such as Scoring, Race Commissaire, Staging etc.
- Level 1: Club officiating is specifically targeted at the official who desires to assist in the conduct of club racing and includes all of the basics into officiating at a BMX track. The course requires candidates to be 16 years of age, read an online manual, and complete an online quiz. http://www.bmxaustralia.com.au/en-au/development/officiating/level1clubofficial.aspx
- Level 2: State officiating is for the official who assists with Open and State level calendar events. This course deals more with the technical aspects of the discipline. After completing this level you will be qualified to officiate at State/Open events. The course is conducted by BMX Victoria using set BMX Australia guidelines.
- Level 3: National officiating is an advanced course for officials who want to officiate at National events and championships. The course is conducted in conjunction with the National Championships and provides training and information on the finer points of officiating at the elite level. To sit the course the candidates must be 18 years of age, have had at least two years' experience as an active Level 2 State Official and be nominated by BMX Victoria. The course is conducted by BMX Australia.
TRAINING AND ACCREDITATION
Every great sport needs great officials. BMX Victoria appreciates the people who step forward to take on roles as officials whether it be at a local Club meeting or at National level. You don't even need to know how to ride a bike, all the support and training is provided for you to gain accreditation as an official and enjoy your participation at whatever level you aspire too.
